Slither.io is a free-to-play online multiplayer game where you have to play the character of a snake also known as Slither.

You are required to consume multi-colored pellets spawn on the map as well as from another snake to grow the largest and longest on the map. Becoming the longest in size is the only objective of the game.

Gameplay

The objective of the game is to consume pellets and snakes to gain mass and grow large. Here is a brief overview of the game that can help you enlarge the snake:

• The game area is filled with colorful pellets. By moving your snake over these pellets, your snake will consume them, and its length will increase. The more pellets you eat, the longer your snake becomes.
• Don’t run into other snakes, including your own body, as this will destroy or kill your snake.
• Cut down the path of other snakes with your body. If they run into your snake’s body, they will be eliminated, and you can collect the pellets they leave behind.
• As your snake grows longer, it will be both beneficial as well as harmful. While a longer snake can trap and eliminate others more easily, moving around without bumping into other snakes is also more challenging.
• Don’t collide with the border. It will result in the death of the snake.
• There is a leaderboard displaying the mass of the top ten players.

Mouse:

• Move the mouse in any direction you want. Click to move at full speed

Keyboard:

• Spacebar/Up arrow key: To boost or move at full speed
• Left arrow key: To turn left
• Right arrow key: To turn right

How to boost the speed of a snake?

By pressing the Spacebar or Up arrow key the player can boost the speed of a snake. When the button is released, the snake will stop using its boost.

What is the benefit of boosting in Slither.io?

Boosting will help you to consume the pellets very fast. While boosting, the mass of the snake will decrease. The snake’s bulk will decrease as it boosts. Where the boost was applied, a line of tiny pellets represents the mass that was lost. The pellet can be eaten to recover the lost bulk.

Types of pellets

There are two types of pellets in the game:

• Normal: They do not give as much mass as pellets dropped from other snakes.
• Chase: They give more mass when eaten than pellets dropped from other snakes. They flee away from snakes.
